Section Law of air warfare Air warfare has been a dominant feature in several recent conflicts. There are no specific treaties regulating comprehensively the conduct of armed conflicts in the air. However, several aspects of the use of military aircraft are regulated in a number of international legal instruments, e.g. all the specific provisions on the conduct of hostilities in Additional Protocol I apply equally to air warfare, as long as there is a link to the protection of the civilian population and property on land.
